There was recently a planning application for the building of 14 age-restricted houses at Cogos Park in Mylor Bridge.
There were numerous local objections and no support from the residents. The parish council were unanimous in rejecting the application, and the planning authority at Cornwall Council also refused permission.
We now learn that the developers (Blue Cedar) have appealed the decision through the Planning Inspectorate. It is clear that such developers have no consideration for the wishes of residents wherever they want to build, and are concerned only with their own profits.
They have enough funds to be able to pay for legal representation in such situations, and carry the prospect that cash-strapped Councils will not wish to face the expense of fighting an appeal, or of possible damages and costs if the appeal is upheld.
To this end, Blue Cedar had threatened during the application process that they would go to arbitration if it failed, and it is to the credit of Cornwall Council that they ignored this threat and rejected the application.
