I HAD a few lovely days in Falmouth at the end of June and decided to return to the lovely coast walk from Gyllyngvase to Swanpool, but oh dear, when did the path last see a chain saw at work?

It is so overgrown in many places that it is impossible to take in the sea view – I remember in 1998 sitting half-way across on a slightly raised part watching the tall ships, but this will not be possible this year for anybody.

Having got to Swanpool, I carried on up to Stack Point and the seat there. I expected to be able to sit and take in the wonderful view, not a hope due to the many overgrown trees, etc. What on earth must first time visitors to what is a beautiful place think? It is such an asset to the many visitors who love walking holidays.

While writing, like the residents around Union Corner, I cannot see what a new roundabout will do apart from coast a lot of money. I wonder what my late friend would say? She lived at 2 Woodman’s Cottages – a total waste I am sure. I hope I will see an improvement on the path when I next come down to Falmouth, maybe in September if not next June.
