With the price of petrol exceedingly high, I personally find it uneconomical to drive around in first and second gear all the time, reaching third gear as a novelty factor bonus.

Having what seems to me, a wonderfully dirty, noisy and archaic First bus service serving the Lizard, it becomes the highlight of the day if I am lucky enough to time it correctly and not be right behind one when driving.

It seems impractical to me, for First to run fuel guzzling double deck buses on the Lizard route; these buses currently have to be driven completely in the middle of a good majority of the narrow lanes, in order to avoid the projection of foliage above.

Of course on meeting another vehicle coming the other way, they come to a virtual standstill whilst someone negotiates their vehicle into the hedge. Surely this is ridiculous to continue with the use of double deck buses on this route, most of which are not even disability friendly.

The government in their infinite wisdom have awarded a fuel rebate for the Isles of Scilly – is it not time Cornwall benefitted from this small gesture. Due to the geographical rural layout of the county and the distances that many have to travel to work, hospitals etc, surely a fuel rebate would go some way to helping a county that has some of the lowest wages and highest water rates?
