I WOULD like to support Mr Ian McDonald's letter to the Packet last week in which he encourages everyone to contact the Planning Department at Cornwall Council by September 9 if they have any objections to the proposed development of the HX1 site on the outskirts of Helston.
Many people appear to be against concreting over this lovely piece of farmland but seem to be despondent and think that their objection will do little to stop the development going ahead, believing that money and power will always win.
The staff at the planning department are not mind readers. If no-one objects they can only assume one thing ie that everyone is in favour of the building going ahead, which is not the case.
My own worry here is that the current application of 340 homes is only the first phase, plus the application is not only for homes but also for some commercial use.
I firmly believe that if this development goes ahead it will set the precedent for a great deal of further building along both the Falmouth road and the Redruth road.
