Many thanks to David Barnicoat for his interesting report and most welcome photograph of the French barque Asnieres, ashore off St Mawes, December 1914. (Falmouth Packet 24.12.2014.)

Henry Scott Tuke records in his painting register: "[R792] French Barque Ashore at St Mawes. 'Asnieres'. S [Sold] £20 to C F Leach. E [Exhibited] R W S [Royal Watercolour Society] July 1915."

This press cutting will now go into the Tuke Collection Archive which forms an important part of the Tuke Collection. The collection consists of some 279 works owned by the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society.

We now have our 280th work (Falmouth Packet 7th Jan 2015). An important oil on canvas, some 48" x 84", Golden Youth by Thomas Cooper Gotch, loaned to the RCPS's Tuke Collection from a private collection.

When next in Falmouth why not pop in to the “Gallery on the Moor” to view it.
