Huts were a feature at Castle Beach. As an ex-Falmothian who grew up in the town, I remember well the line of huts which used to be at the back of Castle Beach.
They were certainly there during my childhood in the 1950s and 1960s, and enhanced the beach scene – unlike the huts which were then at Gyllyngvase. They totally blocked the view of the sea from the footpath in front of Queen Mary Gardens, and I was very glad to eventually find they had been removed.
I do hope the new huts are agreed, as I am sure they will improve the appearance of the rather bare wall now at the back of the beach. They will certainly not impede any use of the little promenade – there was no problem in the past.
If anyone wishes to protest about proposed changes to the seafront, in my view they should focus on the terrible idea of ruining the views at Swanpool by building houses right next to the lake.
