As a resident of Flushing, once again Royal Mail have stamped us as second class residents.
Several years ago, sadly we lost our much loved Post Office. Now a second class service has been inflicted on us.
Previously our post collections were at 4.30pm. Now, in their wisdom, Royal Mail have decided to inflict us with a 7am collection on weekdays.
How does this make sense, as our mail delivery is around midday? If you receive an important letter at this time and you need to respond immediately (often legal documents and urgent cheques) even using first class post at 68p you will lose a day, as it will not be collected until 7am the following day – thus losing the first class overnight service and next day delivery we were used to.
If this is the Royal Mail trying to compete with email and other rivals perhaps we should all start buying carrier pigeons.
