I see by the Packet letters a lot of opinions with regard to the beach huts on Gyllyngvase Beach.
I recall as a young girl my mother hired a hut to enable me to change into my swimsuit. Then disaster struck, so to speak. Someone stole all my clothes, so consequently I had a long walk home attired in my big beach towel and sandy shoes.
A Mr Sampson had the cafe in my day, it always seemed very busy. His sons and daughters in law all worked for him and Mr Ken Stivey, sadly who has passed on, used to collect the money for the deck chairs when he was a lad.
They all worked hard and Mr Sampson must have made a fair bit of money, through very hard work I might add.
