I write to echo the feeling expressed by Scott Rolo in last week’s letters, where he extolled the delights of life here in Falmouth, giving recognition to the amenities and community spirit that exist here.

Like Mr Rolo, my wife and I are incomers to the town, having moved here from Truro in 2006, and the town has greatly grown upon us. It is our view that this town is the best place to live, we count ourselves so lucky to have moved here. The beaches, the shops, the community, the local bus services combine to provide a wonderful home town.

Where else might one find such a community that would respond to the death of the local beat bobby by turning out in their thousands for an impromptu walk to honour the memory of a much liked policeman.

Where else would one find so many shops joining the spirit of that walk by displaying portrait posters of the always smiling policeman, saying “Thank you Andy.”

The special work of the town manager and the bid manager contribute greatly to the prestige and community existing here. We are delighted that Falmouth is our home town and that we live in Cornwall.
