I am writing a short biography of the Cornish entrepreneur Sir Richard Tangye (1833-1906). Tangye and his four brothers left Cornwall in the 1850s for Birmingham, where they established a world-famous engineering plant, the Cornwall Works.
They were also great philanthropists in Birmingham, instigating, amongst other things, the building of the Art Gallery.
Richard Tangye spent each summer at his house in Cornwall, Glendorgal, now a hotel.
I would be very pleased to hear from anyone with an interest in, or knowledge of, the Tangye Brothers.
