Swanpool Nature Reserve Please respect our nature reserve. Please remove the awful black poison boxes, which have destroyed the poor, innocent little creatures there, who were just going about their daily lives. All the council needs to do is stop people brining all the awful bread.

Do not feed the ducks with bread it is not their natural food and has no nutritional value for them. It just makes them feel full so they eat less of what is good for them. If you haven’t any duck food, small amounts of oats or cereal is ok.

What a coincidence all the boxes have had to be placed in areas where the public feed the ducks from bags and bags of white bread, which floats in the water and litters the sides and banks, often of a Sunday and Monday its still there. Fines should be introduced to stop people doing this, notices put up and wardens should be there on weekends and school holidays.

There have been many programs on the TV to do with nature and the environment where the public have been told / asked not to give bread to ducks and suitable alternatives suggested. At many parks and ponds notices are up. Please teach your children to have a good attitude to nature by a good example-yourself. If you don’t really care, because after all they’re just ducks, then don’t come to Swanpool.

Yours sincerely Someone who cares about and loves Swanpool as a very special place to many old and young.
