Whilst walking round Porthleven, it occurred to me that there are quite a few rubbish bins and dog waste bins.

It is probably well known now, that people can deposit their used dog waste bags in dog waste bins or normal rubbish bins. Presumably though, one is not supposed to deposit rubbish in a dog waste bin.

I believe Cornwall Council are charged more for the emptying of dog waste bins than for normal rubbish bins, because dog waste bins are classed as containing hazardous waste. If this is the case, why is it acceptable to have dog waste bags deposited in normal rubbish bins?

Furthermore, why are Cornwall Council paying extra to have dog waste bins emptied of hazardous waste, why not just have all normal rubbish bins that take all rubbish and dog waste, and pay the lower price to have them emptied?

In these times of austerity this is something I would like answers to.

Unfortunately, Cornwall Council seem unable, or just do not want to, provide me with answers. I believe these to be perfectly reasonable questions, however, sadly, Cornwall Council presumably think otherwise.

With all the ongoing cuts to essential services and cuts in government funding, perhaps a reintroduction of a dog licence fee would be a good thing, on a local level, with the revenue generated used to pay towards the cost of emptying the dog waste bins.
