I'm doing extensive research on RAF losses in Normandy during WW2 for the local history .
I'm especially seeking relatives of a RAF fighter pilot , born 14 October 1922 at Flushing .
Flying Officer Stephen Harvey James was a member of 257 Squadron. On 29 January 1944 his plane Hawker Typhoon JP799 was hit by Flak over France while on a Ramrod mission and he had to crash-land near Etretat , Normandy . Soon captured he was sent to famous Stalag Luft 3 at Sagan ( known for the Great Escape in March 1944). He died 11 October 1987 at Ramsy, Isle of Man .
If ever you are related to him ,I certainly would like to hear from you .
Thank you ,
