As a resident of Falmouth, I would like to express my deep dismay at the granting of approval on Nov 30th of the proposed development of flats at Middlepoint, Pendennis Headland.

This very short-sighted and ill-considered local approval would set not so much as a precedent, but a chain-reaction of other development proposals for many other locations across the headland. Your grounds for refusal of other applications across the Headland will be diminished.

I feel i should not need to say to Falmouth Town Council Planning Committee how precious and sacred the headland is; not only to locals but to our many annual visitors. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny that Planning Committee Chairman Grenville Chappel said 'It looks like a pile of old oil tanks with windows drawn on, revolting' and yet he still voted FOR the development . . !

It should be noted by the committee that there are two local Facebook groups completely opposed to any development on the headland; the 'Save our Pendennis Headland' group which currently has 768 members; and the 'Save Pendennis Point 2015' group, which currently has 706 members.

This site should be remediated against pollution into the Falmouth Estuary immediately by the owners; the principle of 'the polluter pays' is enshrined into UK law.

There are many fine ideas being proposed for this site; including melding the tanks into Falmouth's own 'Mini Minack' theatre; or simply restoring it back to the ancient meadow before the tanks were built.
