Good article last week on Adam Levy’s abandoned fire engine in North Parade.
It drove away around 6 pm on Wednesday (Dec 2) evening, leaving behind six years worth of rubbish which your photo captured well. (It took with it, of course, the clamp.) At 8 am on Friday, Cornwall Council’s road cleaning van – with a couple of workmen with shovels – came around specifically to clear up the mess. Cornwall Council are often much-maligned but they deserve a small note of recognition for the promptness with which they cleaned the mess up.
As an aside, if it’s an offence to drive a vehicle with a clamp still attached, and Levy said this is what he did, shouldn’t the DVLA/police be considering prosecution? If he’s subsequently cut the vehicle out of the clamp, that also might be an offence. It’s just a thought.
