Every morning I walk my dog around Swanpool Lake, I keep my eye on the wildlife and although I don't interfere with them I did in fact report the lame cygnet earlier this week which unfortunately has had to be put to sleep.
I have noticed in recent weeks that the level of rubbish around the lake is increasing, I can't litter pick as I feel that it is a dangerous thing to do as you never know what you are picking up, however this morning I did pick up a rather large used disposable nappy from the edge of the lake, if the birds had eaten this it would have swelled up and potentially killed them.
Please, please give a thought to our local beauty spots and wildlife - we are lucky to have them and if you are on holiday here please leave our beauty spots and beaches how you would like to find them.
