Privatisation of essential services disastrous

12:09pm Wednesday 23rd April 2008

I USE the post office to get my pension. The toothless organisation OFWAT favours companies rather than protect consumers from soaring bills.

If water metering becomes compulsory, SW Water Plc can and will up the unit prices and other charges.

My electricity supplier, EDF, charges more because I have a pre-payment meter. This surely can't be fair?

Some wouldn't trust TV shopping channels because they take payments from bank accounts.

I am not complaining, but some who complain have direct debit themselves for most things. I pay water bills at the post office.

The government has removed payment of vehicle licences and TV licences in order to save money. Kerrier district council lets customers pay post office fees if they pay council tax by monthly instalments.

I use cheques to pay house and life insurances, plus council tax, but cheque books may be phased out.

This country, because of EU rules, is loaded with foreign immigrants who are of little or no benefit.

Despite what some people think, I say privatisation of water and other utilities was disastrous for users and no-one is prepared to stop the fat cats greed!
