WHAT appalling news from Devoran about the stones! (Packet letters, May 28). It can only be a decade ago that the Quay Society was still raising funds to pay back the loan for the purchase of the quay from private ownership, so there can have been no doubt it never belonged to the council!
About that time, I believe, the late Dr Peter Millyard had a hell of a job showing that the playing field could not be given to the school, as it had been gifted to the people of the village in perpetuity and the council was merely the administrator!
