I DO hope that the Penryn lights committee will be successful in finding new able-bodied supporters to help with the preparation of their traditional and very attractive display of Christmas lights.
Hopefully this will continue, even if only once a year, to remind us all, of the greatest event in history, namely the birth of Christ, handed down to us from every generation since that time, even if it is not understood by many today.
It was certainly a "day of the Lord" and after all these centuries is still special and celebrated on the first day of every week, namely Sunday.
I am sure I am not alone in being very surprised, even saddened, by the decision of the committee to hold its emergency meeting on a Sunday morning, when so many faithful will be celebrating the Lord's day in their churches and chapels.
However, whatever their beliefs, may the lights committee be able to continue in helping to put Christ back into Christmas.
