The recent foolhardiness of the Sillyboys, seeking to row across the Atlantic pales, as it deserves, into insignificance, risking as it did their own lives and that of others, when compared with the timely prompt action of the crew of the Sirene in rescuing the Portuguese fishermen, as recounted in the article "Sailors save nine as boat capsizes" (Falmouth Packet, June 25). As far as the crew of the stricken fishing boat are concerned, the word "kismet" comes to mind and with regard to the Falmouth yachtsmen concerned. Wouldn't it be a nice gesture if the town recognised their brave action by granting them the freedom of the town and/or free car parking (in Falmouth) for, say, a couple of years at least!
