WELL said Mrs Bradley, (letters, June 25). In my part of the world, West Yorkshire, one dare not make any kind of comment about such things as one is deemed to be racist if such plans are criticised. Our government and the PC brigade have forbade freedom of speech in such matters.

Whilst condoning any kind of graffiti or racist violence, perhaps this is the only way these people think they can express themselves because of our laws.

When people wish to settle in our very small and overcrowded country, the least we can ask is that they try and conform to our way of life.

However, is this chapel going to be an Asian community centre or a mosque? If the former, this must be a first as, at least to my knowledge, and, I trust we are talking of the Indian sub-continent, different religions/cultures do not mix. If we are talking of a mosque, this will be the thin edge of the wedge. Are you aware of how many mosques there are already in this country? Those of the Islamic faith take their way of life very seriously.

As for Mr Bray, I'm afraid that if he travels to my part of the country, he will find many churches/chapels now being used as carpet shops and furniture stores as we stop worshipping in them. Yes, I also think this is very sad and we would be a much nicer country if we all lived by the ten commandments.
