Need to put interests of Falmouth economy first

I WROTE recently to all newly elected Cornwall councillors for Falmouth urging them to work together for the good of the town, and to continue to back the proposed dredging of Falmouth docks and cruise terminal development.

So I was interested to read of the resignation from Falmouth Town Council of Mayor Mike Varney.

This is a difficult time for the local economy, and everyone who cares for the well-being of the town we love needs to put the interests of Falmouth first.

People are telling politicians loud and clear to set selfish interests aside, which is one of the reasons I have signed Labour's pledge to clean politics.

Charlotte MacKenzie, Labour parliamentary candidate for Truro and Falmouth
