AS a Strawbuckie, a person born and bred in Flushing, I was extremely disappointed to read in December 30 edition of your newspaper that the plans to build ten affordable homes in Flushing were being recommended for refusal by the county planners.
Several young families from the village were pinning their hopes on this project, as being the way forward to enable them to remain in the village where they were born.
However, at the planning meeting, held on January 13, the application received the unanimous approval of the planning committee.
This is very good news for Flushing, it means that the village can now thrive and prosper for generations to come and not merely become God’s waiting room.
I congratulate the young families who took up the gauntlet to fight for their right to live in the village that they were born in, and grew up in.
They drew up petitions, wrote letters and emails to MP’s, planning officers and planning committee members - in fact, they pursued every avenue.
One young lady in particular, Becky Bromley, spoke at the meeting and presented her case clearly, confidently and from the heart.
Flushing needs these young families and they need homes. Well done to everyone concerned!
