Forget the trains and improve the bus service

MP calls for more and faster trains – Falmouth Packet, June 13 – and when it comes to calling, pressing, etc for improved transport services, this ongoing vested concern of our MPs only extends to trains, never buses!

The George’s, Eustice’s and Newton’s are all self driven and one wonders if any of them have ever travelled on a bus; had to wait in wind and rain at a bus stop, or until recently stood (there being for two decades no seats!) even at Camborne Bus Station.

So, wouldn’t it be nice, democratic even, if MPs really represented all of us travel wise, rather than just piping up as and when in respect of their chosen public transport carrier – trains!

You are right, some MPs use the trains to travel to London etc on. I doubt very much if they use local bus services, at least not on a regular basis. Maybe MPs along with the relevant councillors and 'First' management should take a month out and spend all day travelling on the rural bus routes, making sure they incorporate those stops with no shelters and routes where one needs to make a connection with another bus, preferably a route with no public toilets.
