Blow seagulls out of the sky with guns

BRYONY Carney is right in her letter (Falmouth Packet, June 20) “Why isn’t there a seagull cull any more?”

Whilst I can’t personally recall there was ever a cull, I did proffer an idea many years ago (in the Falmouth Packet) that an early, pre-season (tourist) cull, involving the owners of Falmouth’s passenger boats, would take out licensed shotgun owners to a just off-shore area, spread some fish offal on the sea surface – to attract the gulls, and then shoot/retrieve them – for a nice fee per shooter!

Poor little seagulls.

Someone should educate/fine the people that feed the gulls and those that put out rubbish in non seagull proof containers that results in rubbish being strewn everywhere.
