We should have fair parking charges for all

Parking charge scandal FP, July 4
With regard to the answer that was given by councillor Hicks, “We now have a lower rate of 60p” is a joke ! How can that be a reasonable answer? If you use the 60p half hour tariff and you used to be able to park all day for £1.30 then you split the daily charge by 16 that would give you half hour parking at just over 8p. Times the new and cheaper rate of 60p for half an hour and the real cost is a daily charge of £9.60. An increase of 586% .
Why when we have a unitary authority does pricing differ so much? They have to treat the populous in a fair way. The idea of Cornwall Council rather than the district councils was to reduce costs . The change is that the new authority just wants to raise revenue by putting up car parking charges since it has been in power .
The Cornish say one and all so why does Cornwall Council treat its communities in such a way? It’s just not fair. I think that parking this year has seen more petitions and complaints than ever before .
It’s simply not good enough to threaten the general public and say that without parking charges it would affect services and money would have to be found from other areas.
If the parking charges were fair and good value for money people would use them and use them more creating more revenue . Parking is a service that should be provided as well. It's just wrong that some towns are bearing such high prices while others are not, and some are even free .
