A new hotel will add to high traffic volumes

I run a guest house on Melvill Road, Falmouth, just at the junction of Avenue Road. I most strongly object to the siting of a Premier Inn at the bottom of the hill on the grounds of traffic congestion.
We see the tremendous amount of traffic that passes our guest house and the near misses that occur when cars try to get out of Avenue Road at rush hour. There have been numerous accidents at this junction and, unfortunately, when holidaymakers or non-Falmouth residents come up Avenue Road, they see the traffic lights and because the light is green, assume that they are safe to pull out– not realising that it’s only a pedestrian crossing.
There is an enormous number of large containers and lorries using the top road and we have witnessed so many near misses with cars coming out of Avenue Road.
If a new hotel with a large number of rooms is built in the car park, whether there is parking on the site or not, it will add to the already high volume of traffic trying to get out of Falmouth, especially in the summer months.
