I AM delighted to see that common sense has prevailed with the Premier Inn planning application.

For many years, hoteliers have benefited greatly from the Maritime Museum, the college and university expansions and many other rapidly growing events without contributing anything themselves to these often visionary schemes.

I do not envy the good fortune that has befallen this group. However, I completely disagree with their position regarding others “gatecrashing” the party.

Contrary to the histrionic rantings of Mrs Ridette-Gregory, Premier Inn offers a superb product with very good competitively priced breakfasts and evening meals. Perhaps she should visit Carnon Downs before disagreeing?

I welcome Premier Inn and feel that they can only improve the larger picture. It has not escaped my notice that the guest house of Ms Ridette-Gregory is very close to the new site and I feel that her personal self interest is the overriding factor in her very vocal dissent.
