MY followers will not be surprised to hear that I do enjoy a jar of ale every now and again (I do promote responsible drinking, believe it or not).

So as always I was delighted to see the Falmouth Beer Festival return for it’s annual booze up at the Princess Pavilion.

I went on Friday night, glass in hand, desparate to try some of the fine brews on offer, opting for Cornish made only of course.

But what did I find when I arrived there? A queue, that is what I found.

And this what not just any ordinary queue. Just to simply enter the main arena of beer barrels there was a line stretching out into the venue’s garden area almost towards the toilets, a place you did not want to get confused for the bar.

Forced with no other option I joined  the line and waited frustratingly as beer withdrawl systems kicked in.

When I finally got to the front, the bouncer manning the queue told me the hall had too many people in it.

TOO MANY PEOPLE! I WANT A BEER! (So much for responsible drinking).

I do not mind waiting two deep at a pub bar for a pint, but coming to a festival of ale should not require me to wait for that long.

My simple plea to the organisers is to locate a larger venue to roll the barrels into.

It is a good sign that so many punters are turning up to the event, but not so good that many like me are annoyed at having to wait for so long.

The festival has outgrown its home and if it moves, I would say cheers to that news.
