ONE week to the referendum and I’d like to take a little poll of my own: Who’s voting based on the economy?

No-one? Now that’s out of the way, we can all admit we will be going by gut instinct and our own biases.

I couldn’t possibly tell you how to vote, but I can definitely suggest some lines of reasoning not to follow.

Don’t vote Out because, as some have suggested, less EU funding and pupils for the university would mean fewer students in Cornwall. It won’t.

Don’t vote In for the farmers and their subsidies: They are dwindling.

Don't vote either way for the economy: No-one knows what's around that corner.

And don’t vote Out as ‘two fingers to the establishment’: That’s like giving two fingers to a cop as you drive blindly into a dark tunnel.

But whichever side you back, do make sure you exercise your hard-won right, and vote.

If you don't do so, you'll have no-one else to blame on June 24.
