Personal Overview - Gained this marginal constituency from the Liberal Democrats at her first attempt at standing for parliament in the area where she grew up. After a career background based in marketing, she moved to Age Concern and then followed this up becoming a Director of the International Longevity Centre in the UK, a think tank working with policy makers on developing positive and pragmatic responses to an ageing population. She has political experience as a former Councillor and has been active in a large number of voluntary organisations both locally and further afield. Locally, she has campaigned on NHS and health related issues and is committed to finding a viable future for Falmouth Harbour.

Political History - Former Councillor, London Borough of Merton. Former Vice-Chairman and Chairman of Wimbledon Conservative Association. MP Truro and Falmouth (2010-). Member of the Administration Select Committee (2010-12). Member of the Science and Technology Select Committee (2012-).

Characteristics - Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts. Has been a member of Falmouth Tall Ships Association and Falmouth Rotary Club. A Friend of St Petrocs and Truro Homeless Action Group. A member of the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal Board. Has also been a Co-Director of the Riverside Shelter for Homeless in New York City, a governor of a LEA school and Deputy Chair of Governors at the Sir James Henderson International School in Milan. Has been Chairman of the Friends of Cannizaro Park. Also, her grandfather was a founder of Falmouth Football Club.

Earl William of Dartmouth MEP (UK Independence)

MEP Since - 2009 Born - 23/09/49. 10th Earl of Dartmouth.
Education - Eton. Christchurch College, Oxford. Harvard Business School.
Previous Occupation - Chartered Accountant, working in the United Arab Emirates (1975-77). Worked in the US for 6 years before returning to work in the UK in 1983 in finance, property and communications. Director, Hanson Transport. Chairman and Founder of Kirklees Cable.

Personal Overview - Former Conservative Peer who defected to the UK Independence party successfully gained election to the European Parliament at the 2009 elections. From a background in accountancy, he has worked in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates and US. A former Hereditary Peer, he lost his seat in the House of Lords in November 1999 in the Lords reforms of that year. Having reinvented himself as a UK Independence member he has the opportunity to use his accountancy skills to highlight any financial issues within the EU.

Political History - General Election candidate (Conservative) for Leigh (February 1974), Stockport South (October 1974). Succeeded his father to became a member of the House of Lords (1997-99).
