Unique memorial in Mylor to be remembered
In 1947, a group of Ukrainian refugees arrived at Mylor Camp as volunteer agricultural workers.
They constructed a Chapel from the empty POW barracks and also erected a memorial in thanksgiving for those who escaped Russian communism and found refuge in England'.
The Chapel and memorial were blessed on June 7 1948.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of this occasion, there will be a short Service at the Memorial on June 7 thisyear, and a laurel wreath will be placed on it in commemoration.
If anyone knows about this or knows someone who has an interest in, or connection to this local historic monument, contact Barbara Baker, of St. Mylor Church,by leaving a comment below or writing to the Packet.

This is great news to hear that "Grandad's Cross" is still recognised and remembered by the parish. It holds a very important place in my heart, up there on that lonely road. I very much hope to be there on June the 7th. Astrea
