Supermarket would be Sainsburys
The potential fourth supermarket for Helston would be a Sainsburys store, it was confirmed this week.
As reported in last week's Packet, plans have been submitted to Kerrier district council for a multi-million pound foodstore, petrol station and 300-space car park to be build on land currently own by Flambards.
Duncan McEwan, director of retail for property developers Terrace Hill plc, said this week that plans were still being drawn up over the layout of the proposed store, but he confirmed that if planning permission was granted it would be a Sainsburys outlet.
The application is due to come before Helston town council's planning committee at their meeting on April 3.

I'd prefer a Wickes or B & Q, personally. That's what's lacking. The supermarkets all fix their prices with each other, so another one won't really benefit local people.

I think another major player is exactly what is needed - Tesco has had a monopoly situation for far too long, as it has demonstrated with it's extortionate fuel prices, empty shelves and shoddy service
