A month of free travel for workers
Companies in Camborne, Pool and Redruth are being urged to encourage employees to enjoy a month's free bus travel in the area.
As part of the Green Travel Partnership initiative, employees across the CPR area can travel to and from work, free for a month, on buses on the Trevithick Link route.
As part of the month's free travel, travellers must complete a travel diary to prove they have used the link for a month and will then be entitled to subsequent reduced travel on all Trevithick Link routes.
Launched in 2004, the Trevithick Link route connects residential areas with areas of employment and educational facilities across Camborne, Pool and Redruth.
In 2006 the route was extended to serve Pengegon, Tolvaddon, Illogan, Portreath, Leedstown and Helston.
Operated by local bus company, Truronian, the Trevithick Link routes run from first thing in the morning through to late evening to meet the needs of local employers.
The Trevithick Link service is supported by CPR Regeneration, Objective One, the Department for Transport and Cornwall county council.
Mark Clements, Trevithick Link Green travel manager said there were many benefits to the Green Travel Partnership.
"By using public transport employees are helping to sustain the bus routes within the community, ease traffic on the roads and ultimately minimise pollution.
"Buses on the route operate from the early morning until the evening to meet the needs of those working varied shift patterns so local businesses are being encouraged to give it a try."
One local employee already taking advantage of a month's free travel is Jim Hubbard, from Community Energy Plus, in Tolvaddon.
"This is a great initiative that encourages use of public transport for regular, routine journeys and at the same time helps me to save money and use less fuel. I would certainly encourage others in the local area to give it a try," he said.
Nigel Tipple, chief executive of CPR regeneration, said: "Our job is not just about physical development but also about people development. The Trevithick Link route opens up the opportunities to people in the CPR area by providing reliable public transport to link people with jobs and education facilities across the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area."

Public Transport in cornwall is utterly rubbish.
It takes over an hour to go from camborne to truro that by car would take 15/20 minutes.
The prices are a total rip off as well compared to elsewhere in the country.
The buses are all old and rickedy and the leftovers from elsewhere in the country.
AnD: what about FREE public transport for STUDENTS! the employed can afford to get transport.
