Top female singer for Eden
Acclaimed singer-songwriter KT Tunstall will headline an Eden Session on Friday July 25 and a rush for tickets is expected when they go on sale next week.
KT is the second headliner to be announced for the 2008 gigs, joining The Verve who will play their Session on June 27.
Peter Hampel, Eden's Creative Director, said: "Following the announcement of the Verve last week, we are thrilled that KT Tunstall has agreed to come and perform at the Sessions.
"She's without doubt one of the UK's top female artists with a great reputation for spectacular live shows and very much a fellow traveller who shares our passion for stirring up the debate on environmental issues."
Eye To The Telescope, KT's debut album, was released in 2004 to critical and public acclaim. The record secured a Mercury Music Prize nomination and KT outsold every other female artist in the UK in 2005. Eye To The Telescope has sold nearly four million copies since release.
In 2005 KT won the Q magazine Track of the Year award for Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. The following year she received a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, the Ivor Novello Best Song award for Suddenly I See, and in 2007 landed a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
KT has become a festival regular and has earned a reputation for mind-blowing live shows, having performed at the likes of Glastonbury and T In The Park. Her songs have also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep.
Last year she released her second studio album Drastic Fantastic, a collection of thumping pop songs and intimate, mysterious ballads. It reached number three in the UK album chart.
KT is a committed environmentalist, having signed up to the GlobalCool campaign which puts pressure on the Government to reduce carbon emissions. She is also a prominent supporter of the Live Earth climate change concerts and appeared at the event's American gig at Giants' Stadium in New Jersey in July 2007.
Her tour buses run on biofuel, she wears eco-fashion, doesn't own a car and her album sleeves are printed on 100 per cent recycled paper. Her London home is undergoing an eco-transformation and her new studio and loft extension will use reclaimed wood, sheep's wool wall insulation, spray taps and solar panels.
This will be the seventh year of the Eden Sessions at the home of the iconic Biomes in Cornwall. In previous years, the Eden Sessions have seen performances from recent Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse, London-based singer-songwriter Lilly Allen, acclaimed three-piece rock band Muse, dance supremos Basement Jaxx, Britpop legends Pulp and former Beach Boy Brian Wilson.
Tickets for KT Tunstall's Eden Session cost £28 plus a booking fee of £5 and will go on general sale on April 3.
