Music festival for Falmouth
Initial plans have been unveiled for two days of music at Falmouth in August. Sponsors for the event will be A&P Falmouth who own the docks.
A Redruth-based company backed by local entrepreneur, Rolf Munding, has applied for a licence to run the concerts over August bank holiday.
If the application is successful there will be live music on both Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23 August, utilising the site which will later be the focus for the tall ships regatta.
The concerts will run from 3pm until 11pm and admission on both days will be by ticket only. Maximum capacity on the site is 6,000 on each day.
Although this is a new initiative, it is being co-ordinated by an experienced team, led by project manager, Peter Mason, said a spokesperson. "Peter is a professional event manager with close working ties with Falmouth. He has headed up the organisation of the last three Oyster Festivals."
Peter said: "We're hoping these concerts will be one of the highlights of the summer, attracting many local people as well as visitors from further afield. We plan to put together a line-up which will cover a wide spectrum of music, and behind the scenes the whole event will be tightly managed. We're in discussion with the Eden Sessions and will be using the same security services, health and safety procedures, and ticketing arrangements.
"Obtaining the necessary permits is the first stage of the process. Once these are in place, we'll be making further announcements with regard to the detailed arrangements and the line-up of performers."

This is indeed wonderful news - we do hope the Festival goes ahead without having to wade through too much bureaucracy. We would be delighted to help and support the event in any way we can. All the best.
