Trainee mechanics take hands-on approach

Mechanics of the future from Truro College have spent a day discovering how a modern van is made.
Students from Richard Lander, The Roseland and Penair schools, who study on the motor vehicles course at the college, had a chance to explore the LDV van assembly plant in Birmingham last week.
The pupils aged 14 to 16 saw first hand how the company's new Maxus van is built from scratch.
The tour began in the press shop where the chassis and body panels are cut to size from flat sheets of steel.
The industrial ballet dance of robots attaching and welding was next on the agenda before the engine and other components were fitted and everything was tested.
Rob Moyle, motor vehicle lecturer at Truro College said: "This was a wonderful opportunity for the students to visit a real work environment and to witness the assembly from start to finish."
He added the whole process fascinated them.

Full programme released for Tall Ships regatta
The full regatta programme for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta has been finalised. Falmouth is playhing host to the start of the event, with a fleet of some 20 Tall Ships arriving by midday on Wednesday September 10 for four days of entertainment and spectacle before leaving on Saturday September 13 in a Parade of Sail preceding the race start.
