The former South West Film Studio at St Agnes could still be developed into housing and work units if developers have their way.

St Agnes Properties has submitted new plans to provide office accommodation and live/work units.

A previous planning application failed in January, when it was turned down by Carrick district council.

Having listened to councillors and residents, St Agnes Properties has now increased the landscaping to form a screen around the proposed Ocean Park development.

Development that was originally proposed for the wasteland to the north of the site has also been removed, to reduce the overall visual impact of its plans on neighbours.

The company described itself as "confident" that their new plans for the site would meet with Carrick council's approval.

Chris Wason, director at St Agnes Properties, said: "We have proposed a mixed-use scheme that provides a number of benefits for St Agnes and Cornwall. We believe this is a valuable opportunity to create much-needed employment opportunities and a chance to put Cornwall's film industry firmly back on the map.

"We have been in negotiation with a number of parties in the film industry who are keen to establish themselves on the site."

It doesn't appear as though the developers have listened to councillors - I seconded the refusal on several material planning grounds (not just landscaping). I await the report with interest!
