Cornwall Council’s new leader has announced the details of his new cabinet.
The move comes after the previous leader, Alec Robertson, was ousted from the top post and a raft of cabinet members resigned.
At Tuesday’s meeting of the full council Jim Currie, who was elected as the council’s leader last week, said there will be 11 portfolio holders in the new cabinet. The corporate resources portfolio holder will be Fiona Ferguson (Con), with Bert Biscoe (Ind) heading up transportation, highways and environment.
Steven Rushworth (Con) will be in charge of the economy and regeneration portfolio, while John Pollard (Ind) takes localism, sustainability and devolution.
Neil Burden (Ind) remains at children’s services, and Mark Kaczmarek (Ind) remains at housing and planning.
Armand Toms (Con) is in charge of adult care and support, with Carolyn Rule (Con) at the head of health, wellbeing and human resources.
Lance Kennedy (Con) will be in charge of community safety and public protection, while Joan Symons (Con) will be portfolio holder for tourism, culture and leisure.
