After more than 55 viewings in less than six weeks one of Falmouth’s most distinctive properties has been sold.

The fight for the former farmhouse on Cliff Road concluded with a battle between multiple sealed bids, eventually reaching an amount far in excess of its £400,000 guide price.

Miller & Son area manager, Ben Salter, said that, of the unprecedented interest, the team’s decision to invite best and final bids was made soon after the house was put on the market.

The property sits just a few yards from Gyllyngvase Beach and has views towards the beach and Falmouth Bay. The house has five/six bedrooms, two reception rooms, two bathrooms, a garage, off-road parking for up to five cars and a garden. The house is believed to date back to the 1890s. It’s the first time the property has been on the market for 30 years and is ripe for development and renovation.

“It’s been extremely exciting marketing what is possibly the most viewed house in Falmouth this decade,” said Mr Salter. “It’s an unusual house in a great location, which could account for much of the interest, but it has the added bonus of being a project which could grow in value.”

Can't believe there are that many people with that amount of cash to splash these days. I don't really want to trigger a debate about where they're from -no doubt a mix of (richer) locals and incomers - but the state of the property market in terms of the income/house price ratio is still badly skewed.
A high-end house like this sells so easily for above the asking price, while ordinary home-owners are apparently not setting realistic asking prices and so can't sell for love nor money... what a crazy situation
