Hunt for people in Penzance flat fire
4:03pm Friday 26th October 2012 in News
A fire in a basement flat in Penzance sparked a search for people that were reported missing.
Smoke was seen billowing out of the flat in Penare Road at 8.10pm yesterday.
The mid-terraced building covered four storeys and contained five flats, which all had to be evacuated.
However, the fire service received a report that people might be inside.
Firefighters used a hose reel and covering jet to help put out the flames, while using a thermal imaging camera to search the building.
By 10pm, following an investigation by officers and crews, it was confirmed that everyone was accounted for.
