Maenporth beach road to close for 12 weeks

THE main road through Maenporth will be closed for 12 weeks to allow vital repairs to be carried out on a retaining wall.
The wall on the road between Penrose Farm and Maenporth Beach is in need of urgent maintenance work. Contractors will start on Monday, November 5, and, while the road will be closed for the duration of the 12 week scheme, the repairs will be halted during the Christmas and New Year period.
The work will involve constructing a piled wall over a 40m section behind the existing dry stone wall and will incorporate a new mortared masonry parapet wall.
Pedestrians will be able to continue using the route during the road closure, while vehicles will be diverted through Mawnan Smith.
Access to Maenporth Beach Café and the Cove Restaurant will be maintained throughout the construction period and these businesses will remain open as usual.
CORMAC Solutions Ltd which is carrying out the improvements on behalf of Cornwall Council say they will “endeavour to minimise disruption to local residents and road users”.
