A Newlyn woman has pleaded guilty to benefit fraud totalling over £8,000.
Lynda McClary (41) of Gloucester Road, Newlyn received an two year conditional discharge for housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support fraud totalling £8,251.12 after pleading guilty at Truro Magistrates Court to five counts of failing to promptly report she was in receipt of student income.
Two of these counts were for failing to promptly report this fact to Cornwall Council and three counts were for failing to promptly report the same to the Department for Work and Pensions.
The overpaid benefits are being recovered from Mrs McClary by both Cornwall Council and the Department for Work and Pensions separately from this Court action.
