Coverack put on a show last Friday and raised more than £400 towards the upkeep of the village hall.

While the exact figure is not yet known, at least this amount will be going to the Lambeage Hall and the Battery playing field thanks to a charity fashion show in the hall. Organised by Dani Pearce, who used her modelling contacts to help put together the event, the show featured ranges from nine |different businesses.

The first half of the evening saw casual wear from Coverack’s own The Mill and Seine Loft, as well as Whirlwind Sports in Helston and Alice Vancy in Hayle.

Formal and evening wear was then paraded on the catwalk, with gowns and hats from Amanda K Bridal in Perranarworthal, Lavender Rose in Penryn, Manor Fashions in Sithney, Holly Young Hats in Truro and Helston’s The Bridal Studio, which provided both wedding gowns and evening dresses to round up the night. Describing it as a “great night,” Dani said: “I would like to thank all the models, make-up artists, hair stylists, photographers and everyone behind the scenes for giving their time and skills for free.

“Also to all the companies for lending their items – and of course to everyone who attended.”

She added: “I’m so proud of what small local businesses and business people can produce in a small fishing village at the far end of Cornwall.”

The village hall is a self-supporting registered charity that is totally financed by fundraising.

The committee running the hall usually finds the money through fundraising events such as barbecues, but due to the wet summer these occasions have not been a great success.

Alternative events are now being organised so that the necessary money can be raised before the of the year in order to carry on the maintenance.
