A Penzance manor house is hosting a special fundraising and Christmas fair next week, partly in aid of Children in Need.

The weekend events at Trereife begin on the evening of Friday, November 23 when the park and house will be lit by the Newlyn Harbour lights to create a magical atmosphere.

Local school choirs, singer songwriters and a traditional brass band will provide the entertainment and the night is set to offer a fantastic evening shopping atmosphere with local food produce, designer crafts and working craft demonstrations.

Inside the house, the Le Grice family will be offering free access to some of their historic rooms, where visitors can listen to Trevor Lawrence tell traditional Cornish Christmas stories.

The evening finishes with a lantern parade by local school children - followed by choirs and fundraising activities.

Visitors can expect to see Pudsey and his Penzance Sea Cadets Car Wash friends make an appearance during the rest of weekend.

All proceeds from the fundraising will go to Children In Need and the Newlyn Lights Appeal.

Throughout the weekend the craft fair will take place under the cover of the heated marquees where visitors can browse a range of unique art and craft that cannot be found on the high street.

Tim Le Grice will also be conducting tours of his historic home, allowing visitors to absorb Trereife’s extensive history while supping on a glass of mulled wine.

Entertainment across the weekend includes a programme of live musical performances from The Hayle Town Band, Penzance Orpheus Ladies Choir, Marazion Apollo Social Choir, The Blazing Heart Chorus and 50 Degrees Choir as well as singer-songwriters Johnny English and Ben Jordan.

A free Christmas craft workshop will ensure there’s plenty to occupy younger visitors including a traditional fairground carousel, storytelling and Terry the Magician, while blacksmithing demos and pottery-making workshops are on offer for the adults.

Doors open from 5pm to 8pm on November 23 and 10am to 4pm on the Saturday and Sunday (November 24 and 25).

Admission costs £3 for adults and £1 for children with under 5s getting in free of charge. Family tickets are £8 (two adults and three children).
