Two police officers from St Ives have been honoured after battling to try and save the life of a woman following a fire in the town.
Kevin Silver and Scott Perkin were called out to a flat in St Ives following a report that a woman had suffered a cardiac arrest. When they arrived they found the woman was showing no signs of life and both carried out CPR until paramedics arrived.
A police spokesman said: "PC Silver continued to carry out CPR whilst the paramedics used a defibrillator and administered life saving drugs. The casualty was transferred to Treliske hospital by air ambulance where she remained in a critical condition until, unfortunately, passing away a few days later.
"However, the successful resuscitation meant that family could travel from across the country and abroad in order to say goodbye."
The two officers will recieve a Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Police Commander’s citation at a presentation at Bodmin police station this Friday.
