Ten food businesses in Mousehole are celebrating achieving a five star National Food Hygiene Rating.

The rating scheme was adopted in Cornwall earlier this year and Cornwall Council has been working with businesses all over Cornwall to help them achieve a high rating.

The two restaurants, four cafés, hotel, pub, takeaway and school in Mousehole have all gained the highest possible number of stars after they were inspected to check how hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored; the condition of the structure of the buildings; the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities and how the business manages and records what it does to make sure that food is safe.

The ten premises are

  • The Old Coastguard, Parade, Mousehole
  • Janner’s, 2 Commercial Road, Mousehole
  •  Jessie’s Dairy, 11 Fore Street, Mousehole
  • Ship Inn, Mousehole
  •  Pam’s Pantry, 3 Mil Lane, Mousehole
