Craft loving visitors to a garden centre near Hayle are being encouraged to support a Christmas scheme to help Penzance Lions Club.

Wyevale Lelant Garden Centre is the collection point for new homemade toys, which will be sold to raise money for the Lions.

Christmas-themed knitted or handmade toys can be taken in until December 21.

Dean Ford, manager of the garden centre on Nut Lane, said: “We are hoping our visitors will get creative and make their own toys especially for this appeal. People can drop the toys off at the garden centre and do their bit for this worthy cause.

“The toys must be brand new and either knitted or handmade to add a personal touch to them. We would also like them to have a Christmas theme.

“After December 21 the toys will be sold at the garden centre and the money raised will be donated to the Lions Club.

“We thought it would be a nice idea to spread some festive cheer and the proceeds will go towards projects the club is helping within the community.”

Penzance Lions Club supports charities and community projects, and frequently holds events at Wyevale Lelant Garden Centre.
