The achievements of students at Mullion School have been recognised in a presentation evening.

Student in the last year 11 group, who collected their GCSE results in the summer, returned to the school to collect their certificates.

Not only this, there were 40 individual awards and numerous subject and headteacher commendations presented.

In his speech headteacher Mike Sandford praised the students for achieving another excellent set of results for the school, and for seizing the many opportunities that had been offered to them over their five years at Mullion School.

Charlotte Chadwick, community network manager for Helston and The Lizard, Falmouth and Penryn, and one of the Olympic Torch Relay runners, was the guest speaker.

She urged the young people to think about five 'Hs', which were to listen to their heart as well as their head, to hunger for opportunities, to have humility and to celebrate success with moments of hallelujah.

The event was well attended, with 220 proud parents and ex pupils involved.

Mr Sandford said: β€œIt is always a very happy occasion and gives us all a chance to catch up on what our ex pupils have been doing since they left us last summer.”

This year marked the return of the 'Flight 31' year group - named after the school's symbol of an arctic tern, which is the bird with the longest migratory pattern of all creatures, symbolising the fact that Mullion pupils will travel around the world.
