A serious road traffic collision in St Ives has left a motorcyclist in a serious condition.

A police spokesman said that at around 6.25pm on Wednesday, December 19, a motorcycle and a car collided on the A3074 St Ives Road at Carbis Bay.

Adding: "As a result of the collision the motorcyclist, a man, believed to be living and working locally, was taken to hospital. He is understood to be 26 years old. He has sustained serious injuries and his condition is being described as critical. His family have been informed.

The driver of the car, a woman from the Hayle area, was in shock but did not go to hospital.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a Yamaha 125 motorcycle and a grey Toyota Auris.
